Interview with Sophie Léane M. Curator, culture lover, observer of moments.

1. Who are you and what shaped you into the person you are today?

I’m Sophie Léane. I curate, I write, I explore. I wouldn’t say one single moment shaped me, but a collection of quiet choices. A love for literature, late-night walks through cities, and the way some music can shift the entire atmosphere without a word. I’ve probably been shaped more by what I chose not to follow than by what I did.

2. What experiences, personal or professional, have marked you in a way you wouldn’t want to miss?

Curating my first independent gallery show – no sponsors, just instinct. And certain books. Writers like Didion, Barthes and Kawakami taught me how to observe the world and myself. I wouldn’t want to unlearn what it means to truly listen.

3. How do you decide where to invest your energy?

If it resonates deeply, I commit. If it feels like noise, I walk away. I’m not interested in proving anything – I’m more drawn to creating space for nuance, quiet disruption and new ways of seeing.

4. What does real presence mean to you?

It’s when someone is fully there without needing to perform. A kind of stillness that draws you in. I admire people who don’t chase attention because they’ve already found their center.

5. When do you feel most in tune with yourself?

Reading alone in a quiet corner. Hearing a track that rearranges my thoughts. Or in those rare moments when everything aligns and I feel completely in rhythm with my surroundings, even if no one notices.

6. How would you describe your style beyond trends?

Composed, but fluid. I prefer pieces that suggest rather than declare. Mostly black and white, textured, intentional. I dress the way I think – layered, minimal, with room for interpretation.

7. What does “less but better” mean to you?

It means choosing with care. One book that lingers over ten that don’t. One sentence that stays with you. One piece that feels like it was made just for this version of you. Less distraction, more meaning.

8. What do you wish you saw more of in the world around you?

More curiosity, less performance. More places that exist quietly, without needing validation. More people who pause before speaking. More silence that’s not empty but full of presence.

9. If everything had to fit in one sentence, what would yours be?

Tune in, slow down, stay true.
